PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) through subsidiary PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Migas Non Konvensional Sumatera Utara (PHE MNK Sumut) said that the Melucut-001 shale well, in Sumbagut non-conventional PSC, North Sumatra Province, has been plugged and abandoned.

?The status of the well is P&A (plugged and abandoned), but the acquisition of shale gas data runs smoothly and all targets have been achieved. The plan will be follow-up test,? Media and Relations Manager of PHE, Ifki Sukarya told Petromindo.com Wednesday.

Ifki said that the company will likely to carry out another drilling. But has yet to decide on the schedule.

PHE is cooperating with its sister company PT Pertamina EP (PEP) under a joint operation mechanism in the drilling program. The objective of the PEP drilling is conventional hydrocarbon, while the objective of the PHE drilling is to obtain core data of tight rocks interval believed to have potential as unconventional target. The Melucut-001 well was drilled at the end of last year.

The block was awarded by the government to Pertamina in May 2015 and 100 percent owned by the company.
