PHE ONWJ & JOB PPEJ win safety awards

PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) ONWJ and Joint Operating Body Tuban ( JOB Tuban), two subsidiaries of state oil and gas company Pertamina, won on Wednesday the Zero Accident Award from the Ministry of Manpower.

The award was conferred by Manpower Minister Muhaimin Iskandar to General Manager (GM)/EVP PHE ONWJ, Tenny Wibowo, and GM JOB Tuban, Bambang Kardono, at Mercure Hotel in Jakarta.

PHE ONWJ recorded zero accident for nine million work hours between March 2010 and February 2011, while JOB Tuban registered no accident for 6,745,943 work hours from September 2007 to October 2010.

?This is big achievement that will encourage and motivate us to improve safety in workplace by strengthening management supervision of work permit and contractors? safety,? Tenny said.

Oil and gas sector is considered vulnerable to accidents. Companies with a minimum of 1.2 million work hours are allowed to vie for the award.

PHE ONWJ won the same award after maintaining zero accident for 12 million work hours between February 2008 and February 2010. The award is the first for JOB Tuban.

PHE ONWJ applies occupational safety system and program that include Control of Work, STOP Card and the management?s field trip, in accordance with the international standards. (godang)
