PHE ONWJ?s 2013 production slightly higher than target

PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ), a subsidiary of state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero) said on Tuesday it produced 38,000 barrels of oil per day and 181 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) in 2013, slightly higher than the targets set in the revised Work Program & Budget (WP&B) of the year.

The revised WP&B targeted 38,000 bopd and 175,000 mmscfd of gas.

The increase in the production came as a positive result of various exploration and development activities carried out by PHE ONWJ, the firm said in a statement.

?This year, in line with the government?s efforts of increasing the national oil and gas lifting, PHE ONWJ has continued various efforts to optimize production, drill exploration wells, maintain facilities and develop new wells in order to increase oil and gas output,? PHE ONWJ Vice President/General Manager Jonly Sinulingga.

In 2013, PHE ONWJ managed to finish the LIMA Subsidence Remediation Project aimed to elevate the rig on the LIMA field, which experienced seabed subsidence. The project is the first large-scale project in the world to apply the latest technology for the purpose. The project was able to maintain the continuity of production in the area at 4000 bopd and 20 mmscfd.

Aside from maintenance, PHE ONWJ also carried out several development activities to increase output in the coming years. For example, the development activity at UL field is expected to enable the field to produce 2,200 bopd and 9.5 mmscfd starting February 2014.

Last year, the firm also started to the construction of Balongan and Indramayu gas processing facilities to channel gas from its GG field. The construction of rig for the GG field entered fabrication phase last year.

Also last year, the firm finished the drilling of MTX-1 and YYS exploration wells, which was followed by the drilling of DA-1 well which is still ongoing.

The firm planned to carry out 3D seismic survey offshore Karawang, Indramayu and Cirebon.

The firm also recorded a good performance in terms of health, safety, security and environment (HSSE). In 2013, it recorded 15.621.625 working hours without accident. The firm has applied ISO 14001 Environment System Management at all its stations and received the Green Proper Award from the Ministry of Environment for three consecutive years. In April last year, the firm also received certificate from the Director General of Oil and Gas which acknowledged the resilience of the firm?s offshore facilities.
