PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) has recently drilled the LLD-3ST development well at the ONWJ block in West Java Province using jack up rig owned by IDX-listed oil and gas drilling contractor PT Apexindo Pratama Duta Tbk, according to a top official of the firm.

?Since Thursday morning (June 15), the Soehanah jackup rig has started operating (at LLD-3ST well),? Executive Vice President/General Manager of PHE ONWJ Irwansyah told Petromindo.com on Friday.

He said that drilling of the LLD-3 ST well is a side track (ST) job, meaning that it is being carried out at existing well, thus it is technically not termed as ?spudding.?

The government signed on January 18 a new production sharing contract of the ONWJ block, assigning the entire contract to the block?s previous operator PHE ONWJ, an indirect subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina. The government applied for the first time the newly-introduced gross split scheme in the new ONWJ block contract, meaning that the operator will no longer get reimbursement from the government for its operating and production costs.
