PHE ONWJ to carry out risky ?subsidence remediation? project

PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) is preparing to carry out the subsidence remediation project in Lima area, Arjuna field, within the ONWJ block, in August, which will include simultaneous lifting of at least four major platforms and associated bridges.

If successful, it will be the first in Indonesia and even in the world, claimed Executive Vice President Jonly Sinulingga in a recent media briefing in his office.

The Lima Flow Station is a production complex situated 150 km offshore Java which has been experiencing subsidence resulting in a significant reduction of the safe air gap clearance of the platforms relative to sea level, requiring PHE ONWJ to come up with the remedy program.

Under its subsidence remediation project, there will be a fully cycle of activities (EPCI) that includes the simultaneous deck-raising system to raise four major platforms, compression as well as the associated bridge and flare by 4 meters.

All in all, six critical facilities will be lifted and synchronized simultaneously. ?Nobody in the world has ever done that, not with six facilities altogether,? Jonly said, adding that the project would cost US$130 million.

"We expect the ?Lima Subsidence? project that will be carried out in mid-August until mid-October could be done well, so that in the future our production activity in the area will run smoothly," said Jonly.
