PHE plans to boost WMO production to 20,000 bopd

PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), a subsidiary of state oil, gas company PT Pertamina plans to boost oil production from its West Madura Offshore (WMO) to 20,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) next year.

President Director of PHE, Salis Aprilian, said that oil production of WMO currently stands at 12,000-13,000 bopd.

To realize the plan, the company will deploy one new rig in the block this month to drill three wells through to the end of this year.

?We expect WMO?s production would increase to 20,000 bopd early next year,? said Salis.

Furthermore, PHE will also deploy three additional rigs in WMO which will be used to drill 20 wells up until 2015. About 30 percent of the new wells will be exploration wells, he said.

The government officially named Pertamina in early May this year as the operator of the West Madura Offshore block replacing South Korean company Kodeco in the new contract which became effective May 7 for 20 years.

Pertamina?s ownership in the block was increased to 80 percent from 50 percent recently, with Kodeco holding the remaining 20 percent, unchanged from the previous year. (giok)
