PHE plugs CPE-1 dry hole in Randu Gunting

PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), an upstream subsidiary of state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, has plugged and abandoned the Cempaka Emas (CPE)-1 well in the Randu Gunting block in Central Java as a dry hole, after completing exploration there.

Eddy Purnomo, PHE?s Operational Director, said it was the second exploration well drilled at the block located adjacent to the Cepu block.

Last year, he said, the firm drilled the DPG-1 well and discovered gas at shallow reservoir. The company was however faced with drilling problem that it was finally plugged and abandoned as well with gas indication.

?Now PHE and partners are doing evaluations at the block,? he said.

Randu Gunting is jointly developed by PHE Randu Gunting, Petronas and Petrovietnam. PHE Randu Gunting holds 40 percent interest, while Petronas and Petrovietnam each owns 30 percent
