PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Nunukan, a subsidiary of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), said that it is currently in the process of mobilizing rig and other required equipment and materials as the company prepares to drill the Parang-1 exploration well in Nunukan block, North Kalimantan, later this year.

?In the meantime, the spud-in is scheduled on December 29, 2016 if the weather condition in the sea is not bad,? said GM of PHE Nunukan, Alfian Husuein to Petromindo.com on Monday.

He said that the company will use the Raniworo rig owned by IDX-listed oil and gas drilling contractor PT Apexindo Pratama Duta Tbk.

This portal obtained information that top officials of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina and PT Pertamina Hulu Energi, and upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas are expected to visit the offshore drilling site mid-January 2017.

Plan of development for the Nunukan block was approved earlier this year, under which the block will produce 60,000 mmscfd of gas and 1,800 bpd of oil starting in 2019. The block is operated by PHE Nunukan with a 66.67 percent interest. It partners with Indian firms Videocon Industries (20.83 percent) and Bharat Petro Resources Ltd. (12.50 percent).
