PHE reports slightly lower production in 9M 2025

PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), Pertamina’s upstream sub-holding, reported oil and gas production of 1.03 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOEPD) for the first nine months of 2025, marginally lower than the 1.04 million BOEPD recorded in the same period of 2024.

Oil output in January–September 2025 reached 553,000 barrels per day, compared with 554,000 barrels per day a year earlier. Gas production averaged 2.83 billion standard cubic feet per day (BSCFD), slightly down from 2.84 BSCFD in the corresponding period of 2024.

PHE drilled 661 development wells during the period, higher than 585 wells drilled in January–September 2024. The company also carried out 969 workovers and 28,507 well service activities, up from 769 workovers and 26,928 well services in the same period last year.

Exploration drilling reached 15 wells in the first nine months of 2025, compared with 13 wells in 2024. Seismic acquisition decreased, with 109 km of 2D seismic and 652 km² of 3D seismic recorded in 2025, against 739 km of 2D seismic and 2,322 km² of 3D seismic in 2024.

PHE reported 870 million BOE of additional contingent resources (2C) in 2025, a significant increase from 312 million BOE recorded in the same period of 2024. The company also booked 149 million BOE of new proven reserves (P1) in 2025, compared with 186 million BOE in 2024. According to the release, discoveries in the Rokan working area, Central Sumatra, contributed to the increase in resources, including conventional and unconventional potential in Aman Trough K7A and K7B.
