PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), a subsidiary of the state oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, has resumed its drilling activities in West Madura Offshore (WMO) Block, East Java, as weather condition is getting better now.
Last week, the company has to stop the activities as the weather was getting worse around the working area.
"Thanks God, the weather has been back to normal in the last two days. The wells of PHE-38-B1, PHE-40-A2, and PHE-53-4, with three rigs, are resuming operation,? PHE President Director Salis Aprilian said in Jakarta on Saturday.
Salis noted that the drilling had been conducted since two months ago. But due to worsening weather condition during the second week of this month, it had to be suspended until the weather gets better.
Hadi Prasetyo, Head of Public Relations, Security and Formality of the Special Task Force on Upstream Oil and Gas (SKK MIGAS), said that they were monitoring weather condition and its impacts to the oil and gas operations.
According to him, if the operation of PHE WMO stopped there will be a potential loss of oil production at 1200 bopd.
