PHE spuds pilot CBM wells in Tabalong

PT Pertamina Hulu Energy through its subsidiary PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) Metan Tanjung II has resumed drilling campaign at its coal bed methane (CBM) concession in Tabalong regency, South Kalimantan.

The drilling campaign was launched in a ceremony held in the regency on Feb.17, 2015, attended by the company?s representatives and local authorities, upstream authority SKK Migas said in a statement on Thursday.

There are five wells that will be drilled in the current drilling campaign, namely four new wells called TJ-2-CBM-P1, TJ-2-CBM-P2, TJ-2-CBM-P3 and TJ-2-CBM-P4 respectively and on re-entry well called TJ-2-CBM-002. The wells will be drilled using the ?multi-well production pilots on tight spacing (five-spot production pilot) method?, SKK Migas said, adding the drilling will last four months and start with TJ-2-CBM-P1 well.

The firm carried out a core hole and exploratory drilling at the end of last year, SKK Migas.

The Tanjung II block covers a total area 1,092 sq km. PHE Metana Tanjung II has a 100% interest in the block
