PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, said it has spudded the West Badik-1 well in Nunukan Block, East Kalimantan, using the Gorila-2 rig.
General Manager of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Nunukan, a subsidiary of PHE, Alfian Husen told Petromindo.com Wednesday that the spud in was made early in June, and the company was now preparing to carry out modular formation dynamic testing (MDT) at the well end of June.
?The spud in of the West Badik-1 well was made early in the month, reaching a depth of 10,300 feet. We?re now preparing for the MDT,? he said.
Alfian said that after completing the MDT, the company plans to carry out drill stem test sometimes in the middle of July of this year.
PHE last year drilled three wells in the block including Badik-1, Badik-2 and Badik-3. The drilling of the wells will help the company in determining the oil and gas reserves estimate of the block.
Once the reserves estimate has been determined, PHE will propose the plan of development on the Nunukan Block to the upstream authority SKK Migas, possibly at the end of 2014.
PHE is the operator of the Nunukan block after acquiring the 35 percent interest of US oil and gas firm Anadarko in February of 2013. Medco Energi owns 40 percent interest in the block, with the balance equally shared by Indian Firms Videocon Industries Limited and Bharat PetroResources Limited.
