PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) Siak, a subsidiary of upstream company PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), is set to start drilling of the Kumis#2 exploration well at Siak block, in Rokan Hulu Regency, Riau Province, in November of this year.

Nana Heriana, General Manager of PHE Siak, said on Monday that preparations for the drilling program are being finalized.

He said that the Kumis#2 well drilling program is expected to provide additional oil output of 200-300 bopd, which will thus further increase the production performance of the Siak block.

Nana said that as per August of this year, average production at the block stood at 1,998 bopd, which exceeds the 1,855 bopd target set in the 2017 work program and budget (WP&B).

Siak PSC was formerly operated by Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI) but was transferred to Pertamina, the parent of PHE, in 2014. PHE currently manages two active fields in the Siak block, namely Batang Field and Lindai Field. CPI continues to manage the Manggala South Field. Meanwhile, there are a number of inactive fields at the block including Buaya, Tanjung Medan, Jingga, Kelabu, and Rintis with total acreage of 2,484 sq km.

Elsewhere, Nana said that PHE Siak will also focus on the development of the Batang Field to optimize production level. He said that the heavy crude type in the field has been one of the obstacles in maximizing production level at the Batang field, but the company is preparing special measures to boost production level.

?The Batang Field is actually the prima donna of the Siak block. According to existing data, only 13 percent of its reserves have been taken,? he said.
