PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), a subsidiary of state oil and gas company PT. Pertamina is preparing a plan to drill a new well, Kenagrejo #1, in Randu Gunting Block in Central Java during the fourth quarter this year, following its drilling of Cempaka Emas #1 well in the same block that resulted in dry hole.
"We?re preparing a plan to drill a new well, Kenagrejo #1, during the fourth quarter this year,? PT Pertamina Hulu Energy Operational Director Eddy Purnomo told Petromindo.com in Jakarta on Tuesday.
PHE has previously plugged and abandoned the Cempaka Emas (CPE)-1 well in the Randu Gunting block as a dry hole. It was the second exploration well drilled at the block, which is located adjacent to the Cepu Block. The firm drilled the the first well, DPG-1, last year and discovered gas at shallow reservoir. However, an unresolved drilling problem occured that it finally had to plug and abandon the well with gas indication.
Randu Gunting is jointly developed by PHE Randu Gunting, Petronas and Petrovietnam. PHE Randu Gunting holds 40 percent interest, while Petronas and Petrovietnam each owns 30 percent.
