PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), an upstream subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, plans to drill only eight exploration wells this year, down drastically from 17 exploration wells last year, according to company top official.
?In line with the 2017 WP&B, we will drill eight exploration wells among others one well each in Jabung block, ONWJ block, Simenggaris, WMO, Nunukan, Siak, Kampar and Abar,? said PHE President Director Gunung Sardjono Wednesday.
He said that PHE plans 2D seismic survey totaling 5,000 km this year, which among others has been started at ONWJ and Abar Anggursi blocks. The company did not conduct 2D seismic survey last year.

The company plans to drill 16 development wells this year, compared to only six wells last year. The target for workover wells this year will cover 57 wells, compared to only 37 wells last year.
PHE plans a slight increase in oil production this year to 64,000 bpd from 63,000 bpd last year, while gas output is targeted to increase to 769 mmscfd from 722 mmscfd last year.
