Upstream company PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, is waiting for direction from its board of commissioners to select what option to be taken to fix problem at one of its platforms in the West Madura Offshore (WMO) block.
PHE President Director Gunung Sardjono told Petromindo.com that based on the final assessment, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arcandra Tahar and the upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas have recommended two options either strengthening the platform?s jacket or cutting down the top side of the platform, which tilted.
?The results of the final assessment have been submitted to the PHE board of commissioners regarding the two options from the deputy minister. We?re currently waiting for direction from the board to decide which option to be executed. Hopefully this week there will be a decision,? he said.
According to information obtained by this portal, the platform will be repaired at the Gunanusa Fabricator in Merak, Banten.
Gunung acknowledged earlier that the platform trouble could delay potential oil production of 1,500-2,000 bpd. ?Starting August, three wells were supposed to have reached full production capacity,? he said early in August.
PHE WMO has an 80 percent interest in the block. According to company website, PHE WMO operates 10 platforms on 98 wells.
