PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) plans to spud two appraisal wells in the Nunukan Block in East Kalimantan over the next few months.
The company is scheduled to start drilling operations on Badik-2 well in September of this year, and on Badik-3 by the end of the year to determine the estimated oil and gas reserves.
Once the estimated reserves have been determined, PHE will propose the plan of development to the upstream authority SKK Migas, explained Director of Operation at PHE, Edi Purnomo to Petromindo.com Thursday.
Edi expected the plan of development on the Nunukan Block to be submitted to SKK Migas early next year.
PHE acquired the interest of US oil and gas firm Anadarko at the Nunukan Block in February of 2013, turning it as the operator of the block with a 35 percent stake. Medco Energi owns 40 percent interest in the block, with the balance equally shared by Indian Firms Videocon Industries Limited and Bharat PetroResources Limited.
