PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), an upstream subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, will take over the operatorship of six of the eight oil and gas blocks assigned by the government to Pertamina as their existing contracts are set to expire next year.

President Director of PHE Gunung Sardjono said the six oil and blocks to be managed by his company include Tuban block, South East Sumatera (SES) block, Ogan Komering block, NSO block, Attaka block and Tengah block.

Meanwhile, two other blocks namely Sanga-Sanga block and East Kalimantan block will be integrated with Mahakam block in East Kalimantan, which will be taken over by Pertamina next year after the current contract expires end of this year, Gunung said.

In the middle of January, the government decided to transfer the eight oil and blocks whose contracts will expire next year to Pertamina.
