PHE unveils 2016 seismic, drilling activities

PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero), plans to conduct 2D seismic acquisition along 3,245 km, 3D seismic acquisition covering an area of 513 sqkm, and drill 17 exploration wells in 2016, according to a top official of the firm.
President Director Gunung Sardjono said in Jakarta that last year, the realization of the company's drilling programs covered 15 exploration wells.
"This year, same as the 2015 target, we will drill 17 exploration wells, 10 wells of which are conventional and the rest are nonconventional," he explained.
According to Gunung, reduction of activities last year occurred in the production side, namely the drilling of development wells, which decreased from 44 to 38 wells. However, this decline was compensated by an increase in activity of workover from 41 to 53 wells, he said, adding that similar condition is expected for this year.
