PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), the operator of Offshore North West Java (ONWJ) block, is worried over a possible adverse impact of the Cilamaya seaport project in Karawang, West Java on its operation.

PHE?s President Director Tenny Wibowo told Petromindo on Monday that PHE had expressed its concern over the port project to a number of agencies, including the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, SKK Migas, the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, the Ministry of Transportation.

PHE called for a comprehensive study on the possible impact of the project on ONWJ?s offshore operations.

The government plans to build an international seaport in Cilamaya to reduce load congestion at Tanjung Priok port. The development of the project is expected to start next year.

ONWJ has a total of four Onshore Processing Facilities (OPF) including one in Cilamaya and the firm is now aggressively carrying out exploration activities near the area.
