Philippine?s Team Energy seeks additional 12 panamaxes of coal

Philippine?s independent power producer Team Energy is seeking more coal from Indonesia to fulfill part of the company?s coal need for next year, the company?s official told Petromindo.Com.

At present, the company has secured around 80 percent of its total demand for next year, which is around 7 million tonnes per annum to fire its power plants, the official said.

Indonesia?s major coal producers, including KPC, Arutmin, Indo Tambangraya Megah (ITM) and mid-small scale coal producers, and also some of international traders, Flame and Noble, have supplied 80 percent of the total Team Energy?s coal need.

Team Energy has to generates a total of 2127MW electricity from 3 power plants, Sual and Pagbilao coal-fired power plants and Ilijan gas-fired power plant. Team Energy is a 50-50 joint venture between Japanese giant firm Marubeni and Tokyo Electric Power Company.

Sual and Pagbilao coal-fired power plants have a capacity to generate 1218 MW and 735 MW of electricity, respectively.

The company is looking for 8 more panamaxes with calorific value of 6,000 kcal/kg (GAR), sulphur content (max 1%) for its Sual power plant and 4 more panamaxes with calorific value of 5,000 kcal/kg (GAR) and low sulphur (max 0.3%) for its Pagbilao power plant, the official said. (denny)
