Committee member of the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) Arief Wardono said Indonesia currently has a 22,821-km natural gas pipeline network managed and operated by gas transportation and trading business entities. “Natural gas reserves are still available and the infrastructure is ready. The question is how we can synchronize regulations, infrastructure and governance of national natural gas distribution,” Arief said during the Group Discussion Forum titled “Infrastructure Integration and National Gas Governance: Answering the Challenges of Supply, Demand and Downstream Development after the Operation of the Cirebon-Semarang Pipeline” in Jakarta on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
