PI-Energi eyes new power plant projects

Kontan quoted PI-Energi President Director Tentaminarto as saying that his company is considering to acquire a power company to facilitate its expansion in the power generation business.
He added that the company will also participate in tenders to be held by PLN through subsidiary PT Kaltim Daya Mandiri, which currently produces and supplies electricity for fertilizer plants owned by PT Pupuk Kaltim, a subsidiary of PI, in East Kalimantan.
No further details were provided.
Meanwhile, Tentaminarto said that its affiliated company PT Rekind Daya Mapu, a subsidiary of state-owned engineering and construction firm PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind), which also owns stake in PI-Energi, is expected to complete the construction of a 2x25 MW coal-fired power plant in Mamaju, West Sulawesi, later this year or early next year. Construction progress of the power plant, which is located near the Belang-Belang industrial estate, has now reached 40 percent. The electricity will be sold to PLN at a price 9.11 US cents per kWh.
