ASX-listed firm NuEnergy Gas Limited announced on Thursday that drilling has commenced for the second pilot well (Pilot Well #2) at the Muara Enim Production Sharing Contract (PSC) Pilot Production Site in South Sumatra.
Pilot Well #2 is located approximately 500 metres from Pilot Well #1 which has been producing gas for over 120 days. The new well will be drilled and cased to a depth of 800 metres, with the primary coal seams located between 558 and 705 metres below surface, the firm said in a statement.
NuEnergy will again use radial jet technology to complete extended laterals across the most significant of the upper coal seams, and utilise pre-perforated slotted linear casing (?fishbone? technology) over the lower coal seams to maximise access to the productivity of those seams.
NuEnergy will log, permeability test and radial jet over 31 metres of Mangus and Suban coal seams, with the laterals extending outwards to between 30 and 50 metres from the well casing.
Upon completion of Pilot Well #2, well tubing and a pump drive unit will be installed and the well will be connected to the pilot production plant located at the Muara Enim Pilot Well #1 site. This will precede the commencement of dewatering operations and the build-up of gas production.
Discussions are underway with upstream authority SKK Migas
for pre Plan of Development (pre-POD) approval for the pilot plant so NuEnergy may sell gas from the pilot into a gas gathering system located approximately 7km from the pilot production site.
NuEnergy?s Chief Executive Officer Christopher Newport commented: ?We are pleased to report that we have commenced drilling our second pilot well at Muara Enim. Following the ongoing success at our first pilot well, the Board remains confident on the well?s prospects.
?We are particularly encouraged by our initial discussions with SKKMIGAS which will enable us to sell gas into an existing gas gathering system situated in close proximity to our pilot production site.
?We are on track to convert our pilot production site to a production and sales facility and with an existing MoU already in place for gas sales, and with the ongoing support of our strategic JV partner, Pertamina, are entering an exciting period of the company?s development.?
