Fertilizer firm PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda (PIM) in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam has shut down its operation following the halt in the gas supply from ExxonMobil Indonesia, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Tuesday.
PIM?s president director Mashudianto said last week that the gas supply from ExxonMobil had been cut off since Aug. 10 due to damage in the company?s offshore pipeline which transmitted 60 million cubic feet of gas per day to the fertilizer plant.
?The fertilizer plant will be temporarily closed until the repair on the damaged pipeline is completed. We hope the gas supply could be resumed on Aug. 25,? he added.
PT PIM, which is located in Lhokseumawe, Aceh Darussalam, produces about 1.14 million tons of urea a year. (*)
