Pipeline leakage affects CPI's production

Upstream authority SKK Migas said it recorded a slight production decline from PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia, caused by natural depletion and a pipeline leakage in Bangko-Balam, Riau.

"At present production is at 326,000 bopd. There was a leakage in Kota Batak field, but latest update says it has been dealt with properly," said Deputy of Operation Control Muliawan to petromindo.com

Muliawan said production in general is on a decline but has nothing to do with the legal case that Chevron is currently facing involving its bioremediation project, but instead because of natural depletion and aging facilities.

"The decline will be between 12 and 15 percent if we do not do anything. That's why we do workovers and other works to try to arrest that decline."
