Pipit Mutiara Jaya to boost 2010 coal production

East Kalimantan Pipit Mutiara Jaya is planning to increase production to 2 million tonnes next year from 900,000 tonnes this year.

A company official told Petromindo.Com that the company, which stopped production from October 2008 until March 2009 has produced 300,000 tonnes of coal in April-July 2009 period.

The official said during the production stoppage, the company improved its infrastructures including stockpiles and jetty.

?Now we have stockpile capacity of 150,000 tonnes and our jetty could serve 8,000-tonne barges,? the official said.

Most of PMJ?s coal output is delivered to export markets such as Korea, India, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines, Japan and China.

PMJ has a concession of 3,000 hectares in Bulungan regency, East Kalimantan.

The company did not mention coal reserve but calorific value from its mine range between 5,300-6,000 kcal/kg. (denny)
