PT. Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (PJB), a unit of state electricity firm PLN that runs Paiton 2x400MW power plant in East Java has appointed trader PT Berkah Anugerah Abadi Sejahtera (BAAS) to supply coal for the power plant for one year.

Tender Committee Official Harry Purnomo told Petromindo.Com on Friday that BAAS will supply 4,800kcal/kg (AR) coal based on three-month trial starting April this year. ?Trial period is necessary as BAAS is a new firm. If it performs, contract will automatically be extended to one year,? he said.

Harry said field checking conducted by PJB showed that BAAS has the capacity to deliver coal as per contract. Under the contract, BAAS will deliver 40,000 tonnes of coal per month to Paiton.

Harry said provisional price for the contract was Rp 695,000 (1US$= Rp 11,800) per tonne CIF. ?But price could be renegotiated by April, depending on diesel price and index prices,? he said.

BAAS he said, is the lowest bidder out of 10 bidders participated in the tender opened in December 3, 2009. (denny)
