PJB awaits gas from Sumatra

PT Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (PJB), a subsidiary of the state-owned electricity company PLN, has no plan yet to resume negotiation with YPF Maxus in the near future over possible gas purchase following reports that the government would accelerate the development of the underwater gas pipeline which would deliver gas from South Sumatra to Java, according to PJB president Rachmat Harijanto.
Rachmat told Petromindo.com that the gas from Maxus was relatively expensive, and he believed that the gas from Sumatra would be cheaper.
He admitted that the gas from Maxus was initially supposed to be supplied PJB?s Muara Tawar gas-fired power generation unit, which currently still using fuel product.
He said that aside from Maxus, no other gas firms seemed to be able to supply the need of PJB.(Amoros)
