PT. Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (PJB), a wholly-owned subsidiary of state electricity firm PLN that runs Paiton PLN 800-MW coal-fired power plant in East Java, has given 180,000 tonnes spot coal supply procurement order to trading firm PT. Baskara Sinar Sakti.

A company official who preferred to anonymity told Petromindo.Com on Wednesday that the company was directly appointed by the management after three participants in the recently-held tender failed to meet administrative requirements.

?Management decided not to re-tender and instead appointed Baskara, which had shown good track record (in delivering coal),? the official said. The official, however, did not disclose pricing.

The official said the coal would be supplied to Paiton between October-December this year. Coal delivered would have CV value of between 5,000-5,200 KCal/kg AR.

The official said another spot tender of similar volume for January-March 2008 delivery would be opened next month. (denny)
