PT Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (PJB), a unit of state electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), has decided to re-tender the supply of coal for its Paiton power plant in East Java.

The company said that its current tender had failed as it attracted no bidders.

?As a matter of fact, four companies, including PT Santan Batubara, PT Truba Jaya Engineering have registered themselves to participate in the tender but none of them have submitted their bidding documents (until the deadline),? a source said.

PJB has yet to decide when the re-tender will be conducted.

PJB recently called for bids to supply 1.32 million tons per annum (MTPA) of coal to its Paiton power plant under 5-year contract, starting next year. PJB said that only companies that have coal mines and have their mines in operation for at least 6 months are qualified to participate in the tender. The coal should be delivered using barges with minimum capacity of 5,000 tons. (denny)
