Coal mining company PT Pesona Khatulistiwa Nusantara (PKN) stated that its Kelubir coal mine in North Kalimantan has resumed production activity since earlier this month.
President Director of PKN Jeffrey Mulyono told Petromindo.com Tuesday the company is ready to barge around 7,500 tons of coal from the Kelubir mine to coal-fired power plant (PLTU) Pulau Obi with capacity of 40x3 MW at Obi Island, Halmahera, North Maluku Province.
"In February 2017, we?re going to send one barge to PLTU Pulau Obi," Jeffrey said, adding that the Kelubir mine is targeted to produce around one million tons of coal this year. The company halted Kelubir mine production due to the down turn in coal price last year.
