Coal mining company PT Pesona Khatulistiwa Nusantara (PKN) will start operating its coal briquetting plant in Bulungan, East Kalimantan later this month.

President Director of PKN Jeffrey Mulyono told Petromindo.com on Wednesday that the briquetting plant has a capacity of 60,000 ton per month.

?This month we will start the commissioning,? he said adding that the coal will be supplied from Sekayan concession. Jeffrey said that PKN will increase its coal production from 4.7 million in 2014 to 6 million ton in 2015 from its coal mine in Kelubir and Sekayan, East Kalimantan.

The company will increase its output as the coal upgrading plant project developed by a Chinese company in Sekayan will be ready for operation next year. The company will supply the coal upgrading plant with as much as 1.2 million tons per year.
