North Kalimantan coal miner PT Pesona Khatulistiwa Nusantara (PKN) said it is still negotiation with state-owned electricity firm PT PLN over electricity tariff from the planned expansion of its 1x7.5 MW coal-fired power plant in Sekayan, North Kalimantan.

?We?re still in negotiation. I want it to be quickly done,? said PKN President Director Jeffrey Mulyono, adding that the negotiation may be completed within the next four months.

He said that his company wants an electricity tariff of more than 9 US cents per kWh.

PKN is planning to add another 25 MW to its existing 7.5 MW Sekayan power plant. Jeffrey said that the company will need about US$30 million to expand the power plant.

The company currently utilizes 5 MW of the existing Sekayan power plant, with the remainder 2.5 MW distributed via PLN to local households.
