Coal mining company PT Pesona Khatulistiwa Nusantara (PKN) stated that it has suspended production at Kelubir coal mine in Bulungan regency, North Kalimantan province.
President Director of PKN Jeffrey Mulyono told Petromindo.com that the Kelubir mine has been suspended since September of last year due to the coal downturn.
Jeffrey however, said that the company will resume production when coal price recovers. Currently, according to Jeffrey, the firm is only producing coal from Sekayan coal mine in Bulungan Regency. "This year we are targeting only around 2 million tons from Sekayan," he said.
In 2014, the firm was able to produce around 1.5 million tons from Keubir mine.
