Coal mining company PT Pesona Khatulistiwa Nusantara (PKN) plans to produce around 3 million tons of coal next year, slightly higher than this year?s projected output.

President Director Jeffrey Mulyono told Petromindo.com on Wednesday that the target is a realistic one in view of the lingering market downturn.

?Our target for next year is around 3 million ton and we don?t have any corporate action plan,? he said.

Earlier Jeffrey said the company would only produce around 2.8 million tons until the end of 2015 from its Kelubir and Sekayan coal mines in North Kalimantan, far below the initial target of 6 million tons. The firm considered the 6 million ton target was not realistic in view of the current market condition.
