Plaju refinery needs $50 million for recovery program

The Plaju refinery in South Sumatra owned by state oil and gas company PT Pertamina will need around US$50 million to improve performance and extend the lifetime of its 70-year old plant, the Bisnis Indonesia daily reported Friday quoting a company official.

The refinery's general manager M. Herjanto said the recovery program was scheduled to start in 2008 on finances from Pertamina.

The refinery currently operates at the capacity of around 100,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd), compared to its installed capacity of 145,600 bpd.

Herjanto added the recovery program enable the plant to extend the lifetime of its plant by 10 years. (*)
