Plaju refinery to start producing RON 90 gasoline

State oil and gas company PT.Pertamina said its Plaju refinery in South Sumatra will start producing RON 90 gasoline next week.

Spokesperson Wisnuntoro said as quoted by Media Indonesia that the refinery will be producing 20,000 kiloliters of the fuel, to be shipped to Jakarta on Dec 20.

He said that Plaju will produce 40,000 kiloliters of RON 90 in January.

Currently, up to 30 percent of Plaju?s 134,000 BPD capacity in RON 88 gasoline.

Government through Pertamina is trying to gradually phase out the highly-subsidized RON 88 gasoline for private vehicle users and replace them with RON 90 starting this month. Under the scheme, RON 88 fuel will only be made available to public vehicles. (*)
