The company?s director for property Herman Bunjamin said in Jakarta on Tuesday that the installation of the power generators would be completed by the end of this year and that their operation would enable the company to save electricity spending by about 25 percent.
He said that the operating costs of the gas-fired power generators could reach 600 per kWh, much lower than the Rp 800 per kWh it paid to state-owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).
The gas will be supplied by state owned gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN), he said.
He said that the Plaza Indonesia would spend up to US$12 million for each of the power generators which would be operated in the company?s properties including Plaza Indonesia shopping center, The Plaza office building, Grand Hyatt Hotel, and Keraton apartment. (*)
