PLBG Talang Duku, PLTMG Sei Gelam power plants commence operation

PLBG Talang Duku has a capacity of 60 megawatt and PLTMG Sei Gelam Jambi has a capacity of 12 megawatt. The operation of the two power plants, located in Musi Banyuasin Regency in Palembang, South Sumatera, was inaugurated on Tuesday.
The PLBG Talang Duku was developed based on build-owned-operate and transfer (BOOT) between PLN Southern Sumatera with consortia whose members comprised of PT PP, PT Bangun Energy Resources, PT Navigat Energy, PT SNC Lavalin and General Electric. The contract to purchase electricity from the power plant was signed on March 24, 2011.
PLBG Talang Duku has two unit machines. Unit 1 has capacity of 23 megawatt which has just commenced operation, while the unit 2 will commence operation next month. PLTMG Sei Gelam Jambi comprised of 9 unit machines, each has capacity of 1.9 megawatt. PLTMG Sei Gelam was developed by PT Kertabumi Teknindo. The electricity purchase agreement was signed on 25 April, 2011.
PLN will purchase electricity from PLBG Talang Duku for seven years and from PLTMG Sei Gelam for six years.
PLTMG Sei Gelam power plant utilizes compressed natural gas, enabling the power plant to use gas in relatively small quantities from marginal gas fields in South Sumatera and Jambi area. (giok)
