State-owned electricity company PT PLN is estimated to only absorb 26 LNG cargoes of the total 30 cargoes allocated by the government for the utility firm this year, according to company senior official.
PLN?s Head of Fuel and Gas Division, Chairani Rachmatullah told Petromindo.com on Thursday that the lower LNG absorption was due to lower electricity load in Java, prompting the company to reduce gas supply for its gas-fired and combined-cycle power plants.
She said that the LNG allocated for PLN was made through state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, which will decide whether to export the four unutilized LNG cargoes.
