PLN accelerates power projects in Riau

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN seeks to accelerate power projects in Riau Province in a bid to increase electricity supply and realize its 2019 Riau Bright Program.
PLN said in a statement Sunday that it aims to accelerate in the second semester of this year completion of 150 kV transmission line, 150 kV Pasir Panggaraian sub station (GI), 150 kV GI Rengat, 150 kV GI Perawang, and 150 kV GI Bagan Siapi Api.
The company said that this follows the completion of a number of power infrastructure projects in the first semester of this year including 3x25 MW PLTG Balai Pungut gas-fired power plant, 2x110 MW PLTU Tenayan coal-fired power plant, and 150 kV transmission linking PLTU Tenayan and GI Pasir Putih, and transmission line linking GI Pasir Putih and GI Pangkalan Kerinci.
PLN Business Director of Sumatra Region, Amir Rosidin said in the statement that the completion of the power infrastructure facilities have increased power supply in the province would bode well for efforts to lure new investment.
Last year, installed power capacity in Riau stood at 395 MW, and has now increased to 690 MW, with peak load of 565 MW. The number of substations will increased by 7 units this year from 10 last year.
