PLN adds new transformers, capacitors in East Java

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN said it has added seven units of new transformer with combined capacity of 430 MVA, and two capacitors with capacity of 2x25 MVA in the East Java electricity system.

PLN said in a statement that the new transformers and capacitors, aimed at increasing power supply in a number regions in East Java including provincial capital of Surabaya, Jombang, Pacitan, Blitar and Gresik, were inaugurated by Business Director for PLN East Java-Bali regional office, Amin Subekti on Tuesday.

Amin said in a statement that the additional of the new transformers will help increase electricity supply for both households and industries in the regions. Meanwhile, the operation of the new capacitors will increase quality of electricity service on Madura Island.

PLN said in the statement that currently there a total of 312 units of transformers with combine capacity of 21,281 MVA in East Java, and total customers of 10.41 million. Peak load in the province stands at 5,211 MW, while installed capacity is 9,125 MW.
