State-owned electricity company PT PLN has reached an agreement to buy 5 MW of excess power from a power plant owned by IDX-listed mining firm PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) Tbk in Kolaka, Southeast Sulawesi province, Antara reported on Monday.
The news agency quoted Amri Jamaluddin, Public Relations Chief of the Kolaka regency administration, as saying that PLN will purchase the excess power at a price of Rp 865 per kWh.
Kolaka Regent Ahmad Safei added that the agreement would help meet growing demand for electricity and to resolve the frequent blackouts in the region as supply would exceed the load demand. (*)
