State-owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) announced Wednesday a tender for the construction of a 7.2-kilometer gas pipeline from Muara Bekasi to its Muara Tawar combined cycled power plant in West Java.
PLN's deputy director for primary energy and power plants, Tony Agus Mulyantono said 10 companies had expressed interest to participate in the bidding process.
Bidding documents should be submitted by July 13 and the construction of the gas pipeline is expected to start in September this year, he said.
According to Tony, PLN has to build gas pipeline to its Muara Tawar power plant because the South Sumatra-West Java (SSWJ) pipeline which is being built by state owned gas company PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) ends in Muara Bekasi.
PLN will get gas supplies pipelined by PGN from American firm ConocoPhillips’ Suban gas field of the Corridor block in South Sumatra.
PLN also expects 100 MMCFD of gas supplies from state owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina’s Pagar Dewa field, 85 MMCFD from American firm Amerada Hess’ Jambi Merang field and 50 MMCFD from local firm Medco Energi International’s Singa field. All are located in Sumatra and the gas will be supplied to PLN’s power plants in Java through PGN’s SSWJ pipeline.
Meanwhile, downstream oil and gas regulatory body BPH Migas’ head Tubagus Haryono said it was still in the process of issuing a permit for the construction of the PLN pipeline.
“Because this is only for PLN’s own use, BPH Migas shall not determine its toll fee,” he said. (godang)
