PLN appoints Black & Veatch to help develop small power plants

State-owned electricity company PT. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has appointed global engineering and construction company Black & Veatch to develop 50 small to medium-scale power plants including mobile units in remote areas in Indonesia.
Black & Veatch said in a statement Wednesday that a combined capacity of 2GW power plants will be developed in remote regions.
The projects, with capacity ranging from 5-100 MW, are currently at concept design stage. The smaller capacity plants are expected to start production in the middle of 2016, while the larger ones in 2018.
