PLN appoints Hutama Karya as contractor for gas pipeline project

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN has appointed engineering and construction company PT Hutama Karya as the EPC contractor for the construction of the PK52 gas pipeline in East Kalimantan.

?The contract for the appointment of Hutama Karya was signed last month. The contract is for 12-month construction period,? Head of Fuel and Gas Division at PLN, Chairani Rachhmatullah to Petromindo.com over the weekend, but did not provide further details.

As has been previously reported, PLN has taken over the construction of the PK52 gas pipeline from state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina.

The 55-km pipeline will transmit gas to PLN?s 140 MW Tanjung Batu combined-cycle power plant. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has allocated 40 bbtud of gas for the pipeline including from Mahakam, Sanga-Sanga, and Sebuku blocks in East Kalimantan.
