PLN appoints Indominco coal supplier for Tanjung B 3, 4

East Kalimantan coal miner PT Indominco Mandiri has won tender to supply 1 MTPA of coal to Tanjung Jati B unit 3 and 4 power station in Central Java, an official with state electricity firm PLN said on Monday.

PLN?s Head of Coal Pudji Widodo said Indominco will supply coal starting 2011 under long-term contract.

Indominco is a unit of IDX-listed coal mining firm PT Indo Tambangraya Megah, which is turn is a unit of Thai energy conglomerate Banpu PCL.

Pudji also said that PLN is currently negotiating with East Kalimantan coal miner PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) to supply the plant with 3 MTPA of coal. ?Price negotiation is underway,? Pudji said.

KPC is a unit of IDX-listed mining giant PT Bumi Resources Tbk.

Pudji said the Tanjung Jati B Unit 3 and 4 would require 4 million tonnes of coal annually.

According to Pudji, Tanjung Jati unit 3 and 4 will become onstream in 2011. The units will have combined capacity of 2 x 660 MW. (denny)
