PLN appoints Sumitomo as EPC contractor for Java-Bali transmission project

State-owned electricity firm PT Perusahan Listrik Negara (PLN) (Persero) has appointed Japanese firm Sumitomo as engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) winner for Java-Bali under-water transmission project tender.
The project is expected to start construction soon with a target of completion in early 2012, PLN?s president director Dahlan Iskan said on Thursday, adding that the value of the project is US$67 million.
The 500 kv transmission project will be connected from Paiton and Banyuwangi in East Java to Gilimanuk and New Kapal in Bali.
Meanwhile, EPC on the ground transmission tender for Jawa-Bali network is under process, he said. (bernard)
