PLN asks government to secure its gas supply in 2013

State utility PT PLN has asked the government to secure the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) at 220 bbtud for power plants in Belawan and Jakarta in 2013.
"We need the gas supply to replace oil fuels, as the government has required us to stop using oil fuels starting in 2013. That?s why we need to secure the allocation of gas from Tangguh LNG plant,? PLN Oil Fuels and Gas Division Head M. Suryadi Mardjoeki told Petromindo.com in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He pointed out that Arun in Aceh would need 110 bbtud, and an addition of 100 bbtud for the FSRU in Jakarta bay. ?If the government wants us to stop using oil fuels in 2013, we need the gas supply assurance".
He cited the problem of prices that hindered PLN to get more gas supply. ?I?m confused over the stance of BPMIGAS and the ministry of energy and mineral resources. They said the price offered to PLN was too expensive. But they haven?t yet suggested any appropriate price that should be taken. Probably, PLN needs to seek the possibility of gas import to solve the gas supply problem,? he said.
He urged the government to quickly allocate the gas supply to meet the need of PLN.
